Vanilla / Classic WoW Engineering Guide 1 – 300

Introduction

Engineering is one of six crafting professions available to players in Vanilla / Classic WoW. It utilizes metal bars and stones gathered via the Mining skill to craft a wide variety of goods including guns, bombs, and many other fun and interesting gadgets. Unlike other crafting professions, the majority of goods created via Engineering can only be used by an Engineer. This means that there is little-to-no potential for profit with the skill. However, the vast array of gadgets at the disposal of an Engineer are not only fun to use, they give players a distinct advantage over others in many situations, especially in a PvP setting. For this reason, most dedicated PvPers consider Engineering a must. In this guide, we will focus on how to level Engineering from 1 – 300 in Vanilla / Classic WoW.

Materials Required

As luck plays a role in whether a skill point is earned on yellow and green actions, this list represents a fairly conservative estimate and accounts for some bad luck. However, if you want to further hedge your bets and potentially avoid time running back to the Auction House, you may want to consider buying 5-10% more than the amounts listed. You can always sell the excess back!

To avoid wasting materials, be sure to visit your profession trainer as directed to purchase new skill brackets (Journeyman, Expert, etc.) before reaching level caps. When you reach 200 skill level and are ready to learn Artisan Engineering, you will need to go to Buzzek Bracketswing in Gadgetzan, Tanaris.
